How do I setup remote access? |

To setup remote access, a Windows based PC with access to the local network (same network as the DVR system is connected to) is required.
1. Run IPCameraSearcher program
- Make sure both the PC and DVR system are properly connected to the same network.
- Insert DVR PC viewer disc (included with the DVR system) into the optical drive on the PC.
- Open IPSearcher folder (If the CD does not automatically open, go to "my computer" then double on the drive where the CD is inserted).
- Double click on IPSearcher icon to open IPCameraSearcher program.
2. IP Camera Searcher Instruction
- Click "Search(S)" to search the DVR system.
- Program will list DVR system's IP information in the top window.
- To change IP information of a DVR, highlight the DVR system listed.
- Click "Update IP(I)" button to call out IP changing screen. Enter new IP address then press "OK". The bottom window of the IPCameraSearcher program will list updates in progress.
- Click "Update Name(N)" to change DVR system's name.
- Click "Update Port(P)" to change the trigger port of the DVR system.
- Click "Default" to reset everything to factory default value/setting.
- Close the program. DVR system is now ready for remote access.
3. To access the DVR remotely
- On a PC, open IE and enter the external IP address of the DVR follow by trigger port number.
- Login screen will popup and ask for login name and password.
- Default login name is: admin
- There is no default password
To setup DVR system's remote access directly from another computer (PC connect directly to DVR), please refer to DVR system's user manual.
Note: If DVR system is connected to a network through a router, DVR system's IP and port number need to be forwarded on the router.

How do I export video clips from my DVR system? |

First search for the video clip to be export. There are 2 ways to do this
1. Search by time
- Press "menu" button on the front control panel, then select "search" to call out search by time function. Select the starting time then press play to start play recording.
2. Search by event
- Press "play" button on the front control panel to call out the event list. Use the up and down button to select the event to be review, press "play" to play the selected event.
Once the video clip starts to play, press "menu" button to enter backup menu
- Press "CH1" button to set start time.
- Press "CH2" button to set end time. After selecting end time, DVR will calculate and display the file size.
- Press "CH4" button to search for USB flash drive (make sure USB flash drive is securely inserted in the front USB port).
- Press "CH4" button to start backup process.
- Once the DVR system is complete, press "REC/STOP" button to return to LIVE mode.

How do I play my exported video clips? |

Exported video clips can be view on a Windows based PC. To view the clips, plug the USB flash drive into the PC, insert DVR PC Viewer CD into the optical drive, open "viewer" folder and clip on "VVF Player" to bring up the player program. Click on the "open folder" icon located on the lower left corner of the player program to open the search window. Navigate to the USB flash drive then select the video clip (video clips are saved in VVF format) and press ok. The viewer program will open and play the clip selected.

How do I convert my exported clips into AVI (Audio-Video Interleaved) format? |

To do this, open up VVF Player. Move the mouse cursor onto VVF Player's display screen and press right mouse click. Select "export" then "AVI" as showing in figure 2.
 This brings up a new window as shown in figure 3. 
Browse and select the clip to be converted. Input a new name for the AVI clip in the space provided below "Output File" and use the browse button to select a location to store the clip (by default, converted clips will be save to the same place as the original file). Press "Ok" to run the process.

Recording onto external Hard Disk. |

After connecting external hard disk to the DVR, log into DVR¡¦s menu as administrator. Go to database setup, then external disks. The program will list all external disks it recognized. Use the cursor buttons to elect the hard disk for recording then press the enter button to activate it, select format under action then enter. DVR program will now format and prepare the external disk for storage. After formatting, reselect the external hard disk in the menu then select add then enter. The external hard disk is now ready for recording.
Note: In order to use the export function on the DVR while recording onto external hard disk, it is required to install a small size internal hard disk (minimum of 5GB is required). The internal disk is used by the program as buffer for exporting. Export function will not work properly without the buffer.
Viewing/export: Video clips recorded onto the external hard disk can be view on the DVR or in PC. To view in PC, use the following steps.
1. Download the EXT2IFS software from the following website.

2. Connect the external hard disk.
3. Extract the zip file and click on service icon.
4. Click on the bottom of the setup wizard, choose "Install to SystemRoot" and "Start driver on boot" then click "install driver".
5. Click , then click "drive" and use the drop down menu to assign each partition a drive (i.e. drive letter G: or H:). Click "save assignments" to save the setting.
6. Click , then click "start driver" button.
7. Reboot the PC.
8. After reboot, the PC should recognized the external hard disk and see the folders in the external disk, if PC does not see the hard disk, repeat above steps.
9. To view the clips, execute DVR player software, press "play" button, select the external hard disk. The player will list all recording by event or in normal mode. Select from the list and click "playback" to view.
10. To export, select "export" in data list window. A new window will popup, select the time and channels for export. Specify the file save location. The player program will automatically convert the video files into .drv file to be able playback on PC.

How to setup different recording mode for day and night? |

To setup different recording mode for different time, follow the procedures listed below:
- Go into menu -> "record setup" -> "schedule setup" -> setup desired day, night and weekend
start to end time for each channel.
NOTE: DVR system does not accept overlap time, maximum cycle time for 1 day is 24 hours.
- Exit "schedule setup" -> go to "per camera config" -> select the desired PPS and picture
quality for the desired day, night or weekend time frame, set the other PPS to zero. i.e. if
day time is set to be event only, then adjust event max PPS accordingly, but set normal PPS
to 0.
- Go back to main menu -> "event setup" -> "per channel config" -> set motion detection
accordingly per channel. i.e. if event recording by motion detection is intended for day time
only, then set motion detection to "day".

How do I hook up and control a PTZ on my DVR system? |

First connect the RS485 from the PTZ to the connectors on the back of the DVR system with D+ connects to D+ and D- connects to D-.
Set the switch of the PTZ's protocol to Pelco D 2400, and set PTZ's ID to 1
Power on the PTZ. On the DVR, go into main menu -> system setup -> RS485 setup.
Set the Unit ID to the same ID set on the PTZ, change the baud rate to 2400 and leave everything else unchanged.
Now go back to the main menu then go to camera setup.
Select the camera number connected to the PTZ, change the dome protocol to Pelco D and dome ID to the ID number set on the PTZ.
The PTZ is now connected to the DVR. To control the PTZ, select and maximize the view of the camera which the PTZ is connected to.
Press the Dome button on the front panel will initiate the Dome control mode for that camera and brings up the hint screen for front panel key assignments.
Press the Dome button again will deactivate the Dome control mode. (8/22/08)

For example, if the hard disk installed in the DVR system has a maximum capacity for 5 days of data, but "Data life time" is set to 50 days, DVR system will only record for the first 5 days, once the DVR system reaches the maximum capacity of the hard disk it will continue to function but it will not record anymore data until the end of the 50th day in which time it will give a warming message. This means user will have no recording from day 6 all the way to day 50. CCSG highly recommended all users to set this value to 0 days (by default this value is set to 0 days).

2. Connect the external hard disk.

5. Under version, select "upgrade software via local device", the DVR will automatically search all local devices for available firmware and list them on the screen.

To enable remote viewing, it is necessary to setup all network settings in the DVR. To do this go into the DVR's main menu then select "system setup". In system setup, go to "network setup". Inside network setup, there are two main areas that needs to be configured, they are listed below:
1. Lan Setup
- DHCP -> Off*
- IP -> assign an IP address to the DVR machine and enter it here.
- Net Mask -> enter the subnet mask here.
- Gateway -> enter the gateway IP address here**
- DNS -> enter the DNS address
- Note: If connecting through a router, the net mask, gateway, and DNS information are available in the router¡¦s status page.
2. Trigger Port
- Set to an available port number between 81~99.
If connecting through a router, the DVR¡¦s trigger port needs to be forwarded. To do this, please refer to your router's user manual for port forwarding.
* We recommend turning DHCP off when connecting through a router.
** When connecting through a router, we recommend using router's default IP address as the gateway IP address.

How do I setup my IE so I can remotely view my DVR? |

In order to remotely view the DVR from a PC using internet explorer, all ActiveX settings need to be enable. To do this in Windows XP, follow these steps:
1. Open an IE window, click then select , click the tab in the internet options window.
2. Select and click to specify its security settings.
3. Uncheck "Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this zone", Enter the IP address of the DVR unit to be remotely viewed and click to add this IP to the zone.
4. Click to confirm the settings and exit trusted sites screen.
5. Click on to bring out the Security settings screen. Scroll down to and set all items to or .
6. Click to apply the new settings and close the security setting screen.
7. Click to exit Internet Option screen. This concludes IE configuration for remote viewing.

How do I add IP cameras to my DVR? |

To add IP cameras to the DVR, first select the number of IP cameras to be added. To do this, log into DVR's setup menu as administrator, then „³ and select the number of IP cameras to be connected. IP cameras will be added as the end channels. For example, for a 16CH DVR system with 1 IP camera, the IP camera will be on Channel 16.
Now go back to the main setup menu then enter and select the channel assigned to the IP camera. An example of the configuration menu is shown below:
IP camera information:
1. IP Camera Title: Enter the name of the IP camera to be shown on the screen.
2. Hostname/IP: Enter the hostname or IP address of the IP camera. For example, 192.168.1.10.
3. Model: Select the model of the IP camera connected.
4. Connection Setup: Configure the connection and data transmission settings of the IP camera. An example of the setup menu is shown here:
- Account/Password: Enter the account name and password of the IP camera.
- Management Port: Enter the management port of the IP camera, by default this is set to port 80.
- Streaming Port: Enter the streaming port for transmitting the video of the IP camera.
- Streaming Format: Select the streaming format, or of the IP camera.
- Streaming Protocol: Select the streaming protocol of the IP camera.
Note: Please refer to the manufacturer of the IP camera for assistance finding the streaming port, format and protocol.
5. Device Setup: Enter here to configure the basic settings of the IP camera, this includes: IP camera¡¦s product name, image quality, image adjustment¡Ketc. Select then to apply the changes. An example of this menu is shown below:
6. Activated: Select to activate the connection to the IP camera, select to deactivate.
Note: Once the connection to the IP camera is activated, menu items , , and will be grey out and can not be accessed. To regain access to these settings, IP camera must be deactivated.
7. Status: This option displays the current status of the IP camera.

1. To setup normal recording mode for a desired time frame, reduce all other time frame's to 0. For example, to setup normal recording mode for day time only, reduce of and to 0.
2. To setup event recording mode for a desired time frame, reduce all other time frame's to 0. For example, to setup event recording mode for night time only, set of and to 0.
- After setting up each camera¡¦s recording mode, exit back out to and select to setup desired day, night and weekend start to end time for each channel.
NOTE: DVR system does not accept overlap time. Maximum cycle time for 1 day is 24 hours.

My CMS will not install or run properly, what do I do? |

If the CMS program included on the bundle disc with the DVR system does not function properly, please download the updated version of CMS software from CCSG Corp¡¦s support page. For CMS version 3.4.0, user needs to install Microsoft¡¦s visual C++ SP1 patch prior to installing the CMS program. Fail to do so will cause the CMS program to malfunction. How do I connect and record audio to the DVR? |

To properly connect audio to D800 series DVR, first connect the positive end of the audio cable into corresponding audio connector in Part A shown in the figure below, then connect the ground wire into any of the ground connectors shown in Part B.

Next, go into DVR's "Main Menu" then go to "Record Setup". Set "Audio Recording" to "ON", this enables audio recording for all channels.
To adjust the recording mode, enter "Setup Menu" then go into "Audio Output/Key Beep" menu as shown below.

There are 3 options for Audio Output: Off, Always Live, Live/PB. Select "Audio Output" and then press enter to activate selection options. Use the Up/Down key to change the output options.
Note: Ground wire from the audio source must be connected, fail to do so can hinder audio quality and audibility of the recorded audio.

What are the functions of the 2 audio out connectors on the back panel of the DVR? |

The 2 audio out connectors are: Main audio out, call audio out.
Call Audio Out- this allows user to hear live audio corresponding to the camera channel being displayed on the call monitor.
Main Audio Out- this allows user to hear live or playback audio. When viewing through the main monitor in live mode, user can hear live audio by selecting the camera channel with audio in full screen view. For example, if audio recording is available on channel 2, 4, or 6 of an 8 channel unit. User can select channel 2 in full screen view and the main audio out will output live audio from channel 2. During playback user can hear playback audio by viewing the corresponding camera in full screen view. Note: live audio will mute during playback.

Do I need to type in the default admin/user name each time to log into the menu? |

Yes, it is the security design of the DVR unit. However, the default login names are stored in the system. When prompted to enter the login name during login, press "Menu" button to call out "admin" or press "Search" button to call out "user" on the login screen, and then enter their respective password to log into the account.

How do I setup different user accounts and different level of authority? |

To setup user or admin account, login to DVR's Setup menu as shown below
 Select "User Management" and enter.
 Select "Authority Setup" and enter.
 Use the Up/Down buttons to navigate through the setup menu. Press 'Enter" to make changes to an item after selecting it. There are a total of 9 different authority levels, ranging from level 1 to 8 and disable. DVR administrator can define different authority levels for different items. After an item being assigned an authority level, it can only be access by accounts with the same or higher authority level. Selecting disable for an item will allow the item to be access by all users.
Press "Esc" to exit "Authority Setup" screen, select "Account Setup" and enter.
 Use the directional buttons to navigate and select the account info to be edit.
Note: Admin account's ID can not be edited. By default only admin and one user account are activated with authority level 8 and 4.

How do I completely log out of my account? |

By design, after a user exit the setup menu screen, DVR will stay login for 5~10 minutes. The purpose of this design is to save installers from having to log in each time if the installer has to run a quick check up on a camera or wiring during setup. User can completely log out the account by pressing the "Esc" key after exit the menu screen.

How do I hook up and control PTZ on my DVR? |

When connecting PTZ to the DVR, first setup the PTZ to the proper protocol, baudrate, and ID. Pelco D protocol with baudrate 2400 is the common setup and supported by majority of DVR manufacturers including CCSG Corp. For information on how to setup PTZ, please refer to PTZ's user manual or refer to the manufacturer.
Next, connect the RS485 cable of the PTZ to the back panel of the DVR with D+ to D+ and D- to D-. Power on both the PTZ and DVR. Log into the "Setup Menu" then go into "RS485 Setup" under "System Setu" as shown in the figure below.
 Change the Baud Rate setting to the right Baud Rate and keep everything else at default. Exit the "RS485 Setup" then enter "Analog Camera" as shown below.
 Select the channel which the PTZ is connected to under "Analog Camera Select" then change the "Dome Protocol" and "Dome ID" to the proper setting and number. Save and exit the "Setup Menu".
To control the PTZ, view the PTZ channel in full screen view. Press the "Dome" key on the front of the DVR to call out the on screen DVR control instructions. Follow the on screen instructions to control the PTZ.

How do I setup and use CMS on my PC for remote viewing? |

To setup CMS, follow the steps listed below.
Software Installation:
Windows XP:
1. Make sure the PC to be used for remote viewing has Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable package installed. Download and install the package if it has not being installed previously. The package can be downloaded directly from Microsoft website here.
2. Check CCSG Corp's support page for newest version of the CMS software here. (The version of the software on the bundle CD is imprinted on the center ring of the CD.) CCSG Corp recommends users to install the newest version of CMS software.
3. Install the CMS software on the PC, follow the on screen instruction to finish the installation.
Windows Vista:

2. Install the CMS software on the PC, follow the on screen instruction to finish the installation.
Open the CMS program. Default user name is admin. Default password is 1234.
 The layout of CMS program interface is shown in the figure below.

Part A: Current Time. (Sync to PC time)
Part B: Remote Sites information.
Part C: Connection speed, audio on/off button.
Part D: Hard Disk location and available space information.
Part E: CMS functions buttons.
Part F: Viewing modes.
ADD or Remove Remote site or MP IP Camera:
To add a remote site/MP IP camera to the CMS program, click on the "Setting" button to bring out the setup window.
 Under the "Groups" tab, user can highlight then right click on the "Groups" to bring out the drop down menu to add or remove a group. In a sub group, user can highlight and right click on a sub group to add or remove a site. When user chooses to add a site, the "Site Setting" section on the right side of the "Settings" window will activate itself for user to enter the site info.
To change an existing site, left click on the site under the sub group to activate the ¡§Site Setting¡¨ window.
User can use the "Export" and "Import" buttons to back up and import site settings. Please refer to page 44 on the CMS user manual for further detail.

File Path:
Allow user to select the storage location to save snapshots, archive files, and recorded videos.

To zoom in and zoom out on the CMS, First select the camera to single view. Move the mouse cursor to anywhere on the display screen. Click and scroll the mouse¡¦s scroll wheel, then a scaled down window of the display screen will pop up with a white box displayed in this window. The white box represents the area being displayed on the screen. Use the mouse's scroll wheel to zoom in and out, or use the left mouse button to click and drag the white box to the desired area for viewing.

To playback the video files recorded by the CMS software, click on the "DVR Player" icon to open the DVR Player program. In the DVR Player program, click on the "Open Video File" icon to browse and navigate to the storage location of the video files. Double click on the file to be played and the DVR Player program will automatically start the playback.

How do I convert .drv files to .avi files? |

To do this, first click the "File path Setting" icon to assign a destination folder for the converted .avi files, and then click the "DVR Player" icon on the CMS function panel to open DVR Player program. On the DVR Player program click the "Open Folder" icon to open the browse window as shown below. Select the option "Convert To AVI".

Use the browse window on the left to navigate to the folder of the stored video files (.drv files), all available recording in the folder will be listed on the window to the right. Highlight and select the files to be converted. With the mouse cursor on the selected files, click the right mouse button and then select "Add to List" to add the selected files to the conversion list. A new window will pop up displaying all files to be converted. Click the "Convert" button located on the lower right hand bottom of the Conversion List window to start the conversion process as shown in the figure below. CMS program will save the converted .avi files to the designated folder.

1 hour of recording requires about 1GB of space. Actual available recording space on the included CF card is approximately 7.5GB, therefore the maximum recording time is 7.5 hours.

To view the recorded clips, remove the CF card from the mobile cam and insert it into the included USB dongle. Plug the USB dongle into an available USB port on the PC. Place the included CD into the optical drive on the PC. Open the CD and go into the "CarPlayer" folder. Double click on the "CarPlayer" icon to open the player program. Click on the "Play/Pause" icon to open the browse window and navigate to the location of the CF card.
Open the CF card, there should be 3 folders as shown below.
Go into the "Records" folder and highlight the first of the fifteen files then click "Open". DVR player will automatically load and list all available recordings stored on the CF card and start play from the beginning.

To properly delete/format the files on the CF card, click the "Utility" button on the "CarPlayer" program as shown in the figure below.
This will bring out the utility window.
Under "CF Format" click browse and navigate to the CF card, highlight the CF card then click "Ok". Click ¡§Format¡¨ be start formatting, once the DVR player program finishes formatting, click "Exit" to go back to DVR player program.
NOTE: Format can not be cancel or pause, it takes approximately 10~15 minutes to complete this process.
